Ivory Coast Amb. H.E Allou Wanyou Eugène BITI celebrates the country’s 62nd Independence Day, which fell on Aug. 7, and the 61st anniversary of diplomatic ties between it and Korea in an event in Seoul.

The African country is otherwise known as Cote d’Ivoire.

Amb. BITI threw a dinner reception for the Seoul Diplomatic Corps., Ivory Coast communities in Korea, as well as investing companies’ representatives.

Of note is that Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had a policy consultation meeting with Ivory Coast officials in Seoul early this month.

Included in the participants was Filbert Kouassi Gleglaud from the Ivory Coast Foreign Ministry, who is in charge of bilateral affairs, according to BITI.

They discussed cooperation in economy, commerce, development, public diplomacy, and international issues.

Director-general Gleglaud said that no compensation assistance agreement between Korea & Ivory Coast took effect this June.

Instead, they prepared a basis for collaboration to achieve a stable development of the two countries.

In conjunction with such Korea-Ivory Coast meeting, Amb. BITI hoped for the two countries’ cooperation projects to be continued, which correspond to Ivory Coast’s development plans like the EDCF national cancer center project.

Amb. Biti said that during the bilateral meeting, Korea requested for Ivory Coast’s support for the upcoming Pusan 2030 World Expo, demonstrating the competitive edge and experiences of the port city.
