Korean outfit tries to open team for traditional wrestling

The Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives (KFCC) announced on Aug. 31 that the entity would strengthen its efforts for sports marketing down the road.

The country’s top apex organization came up with the plan at a time when its female golfers of Song Ga-eun and Kwak Bo-mi made their presence felt at the KLPGA tour.

Song won out at the Dabo hausD Open at Seowon Valley Country Club in Paju in July, while Kwak also joined the podium by assuming third place.

On top of the two female golfers, the KFCC also maintains a sponsorship contract with Kim Ree-an, who has been persistent in the domestic tour.

“I really appreciate the KFCC for its several years of support, and I hope that I will be able to meet their expectations down the road,” Song said.

Kwak also commented that she would continue to show outstanding performances.

The KFCC is running teams for male and female professional badminton players.

In addition, the KFCC aims to launch a ssireum team early next year. The outfit has underpinned the Korean wrestling games over the past decade.

“We will put forth efforts to spread the popularity of sports games among communities. Based on such attempts, we vie to help people feel familiar with our organizations,” KFCC Chairman Park Cha-hoon said.

Marking its 59th anniversary in this May, the KFCC said that its assets had surpassed the 250 trillion won ($200 billion) mark this year.
