Korea’s foreign minister hopes for closer collaborations with Luxembourg

South Korea and Luxembourg are celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries as the letter’s representatives visit the former.

Organized by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the European country’s official trade mission to South Korea took flight to Seoul on Nov. 26 to stay here through Dec. 1.

For the visit, the chamber cooperated with the Ministry of the Economy, Luxinnovation, the Luxembourg Embassy in Tokyo, the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office-Seoul, and the Luxembourg Space Agency.

Headed by H.R.H., the Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, the delegation hosted its official reception to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea & Luxembourg.

His Korean counterpart of Foreign Minister Park Jin took part in the event whose participants also included H.E. Mr Franz Fayot, Minister of the Economy, and Carlo Thelen, CEO of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce.

EU envoys to the Republic of Korea, EU Amb. Maria CASTILLO FERNÁNDEZ and Belgium Amb. François BONTEMPS joined to the reception.

H.R.H., the Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, praised the Korean government’s resilience in tackling the COVID-19, noting that the two countries are like-minded countries in sharing a willingness to maintain peace, as well as upholding human rights, rule of international law, and market economy.

Foreign Minister Park said that Korea Space Forum & Luxembourg-Korea Business Forum were a constructive and cooperative platform to strengthen bilateral collaboration between Korea and Luxembourg.

The panel discussions of the Luxembourg-Korea Economic Forum dealt with new businesses for smart cities, smart city solutions with satellite images, new mobility balance, Luxembourg’s view on future mobility, and mobility services.

According to the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office-Seoul, the mission focused on the following sectors: smart city, smart mobility, and space, including their visits schedules to Seoul, Sejong, Daejeon, Busan, and Asan.

Luxembourg is one of the most advanced economies in the world. With its strategic location, stable economy, and close cultural and business links to the main EU markets, it offers an excellent base from which to accomplish your business goals on the European market and beyond.

“We also facilitate the foreign expansion, growth, and export initiatives of local businesses. We seek to encourage entrepreneurship and dynamic, sustainable development, consistent with Luxembourg’s values and identity,” an official of Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office-Seoul said.
