Two high-tech firms in East Asia join forces for e-commerce market

South Korea’s info-tech company LUNASOFT announced on Jan. 30 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Japanese fashion platform NUGU to tap into the global e-commerce market.

Under the two-way partnership, the two corporations strive to come up with an advanced mobile application designed to offer more convenient and innovative experiences to both sellers and Japanese consumers.

In particular, LUNASOFT said that the new app would be powered by its artificial-intelligence chatbot solutions, which would work through Japan’s wide-used messenger LINE.

On top of the cooperation with NUGU, LUNASOFT plans to keep making inroads into the Japanese online retail market through other projects.

Japan’s e-commerce market is the world’s fourth largest, but the country has lagged in digital transformation in logistics and customer service management systems when compared to Korea.

Founded in 2016, LUNASOFT focuses on enterprise solutions for the fashion online retail market on the back of its specialty in AI chatbot solutions.

The Seoul-based outfit is currently providing chatbots, business message services, and customer relationship management solutions to around 8,000 small- and medium-sized enterprises in Korea.

“Through proactive technical support for NUGU, we will try to help sellers wade into the Japanese markets. At the same time, Japan’s consumers will also be able to enjoy innovative shopping experiences,” LUNASOFT CEO Park Jin-young said.

“We will use the cooperation with NUGU as a springboard to growth to make our presence felt in such countries as Japan, the United States, and Southeast Asian countries.”

In the meantime, NUGU is an emerging Japanese fashion platform loved by the young generation of the country, with many brands from Japan and Korea.
