Middle East country hopes to beef up relationship with Korea

Amid the ongoing 2022 World Cup, senior officials of its host country Qatar held an event to mark its National Day, which will fall on Dec. 18, in South Korea.

Qatar diplomats noted that the event had been a good opportunity to show off its edges, cultural heritage, economic resilience, good geographical location, and love for sports such as soccer.

To commemorate the special day, Qatar Amb. Khalid Ebrahim Al-Hamar held a dinner reception here to demonstrate the country’s cohesion, solidarity, and unity.

Touching upon the fact that the slogan of Qatar National Day 2022 is “Our Unity Source of Our Strength”, Ebrahim Al-Hamar said the nation’s major achievements in political, diplomatic, and economic segments.

In front of about 500 guests, including the Seoul Diplomatic Corps., members of NGOs, and investment company executives, Ebrahim Al-Hamar said that the event took place at a time when the Qatari-Korean relationship reached peak.

Qatar is the main supplier of LNG to Korea as the former’s gas represents about 30 percent of the total imports of the latter.

In addition, the Qatar envoy underlined that the country was eager to support all efforts aimed at promoting cultural and civilized openness among world citizens.

Ebrahim Al-Hamar also pointed out that the celebration of Qatar National Day was particularly important this year, as it coincides with Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 World Cup.

Both events are an opportunity for the people of Qatar to show their unity and culture to the world, according to the diplomat.

He said that Qatar managed to show its cultural identity, economic security, and administrative abilities to the world.

Included in the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. were Morocco Amb. Chafik RACHADI, UAE Amb. Abdulla Saif ALNUAIMI, Lebanon Amb. Antoine AZZAM, Croatia Amb. Damir KUŠEN, and Italy Amb. Federico FAILLA.
