Bilateral exchanges are expected to substantially expand

On the occasion of the 60th diplomatic ties between South Korea and Saudi Arabia this year, the latter’s Saudia Airlines launched direct flights between the two countries this month.

Saudia Airlines recently held an inaugural ceremony in Seoul, which was also held ahead of the Middle East country’s National Day that will fall on Sept. 23.

Saudi Amb. Sami M. ALSADHAN in Korea took part in the event to commemorate that Saudia’s measures will help substantially expand the two nation’s exchanges.

Beginning on Aug. 16, the non-stop flights between Riyadh and Seoul started three times a week with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in a two-class configuration of 24 business and 274 economy seats.

Operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the total travel time between the two capital cities is 10 hours and 30 minutes.

The new air bridge between Saudi Arabia and South Korea will be a year-round scheduled service, connecting the two economic centers of Riyadh and Seoul, providing convenient travel options for business growth opportunities and tourism.

All guests traveling on Saudia have access to the latest inflight entertainment system called ‘Beyond,’ which features more than 5,000 hours of high-definition content, including the largest Islamic content in the skies; latest Hollywood films, TV series, e-books, weather reports, shopping, and Wi-Fi connectivity, according to Saudia.

So far this year, Saudia has begun new flights to Amsterdam, Netherlands; Entebbe, Uganda; Bangkok, Thailand; Marrakech, Morocco; Malaga, Spain; Barcelona, Spain; Mykonos, Greece; and Zurich, Switzerland.

Saudia noted that it offered a special discount of up to 15 percent to new travelers. Its fleet stands at nearly 150 narrow and wide-body Airbus and Boeing aircraft, flying to more than 100 destinations.
