Woongjin Preed Life, South Korea’s leading funeral service company, announced on Nov. 26 that it has concluded its “K-Funeral Culture Education” program for Korean diaspora communities in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The event was hosted by the Kyrgyzstan’s Korean community with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Overseas Koreans Agency, according to Woongjin Preed Life.

Designed to introduce proper Korean funeral traditions and transfer advanced funeral techniques, the program drew around 300 ethnic Koreans and local Koreans in Bishkek on Nov. 22.

As part of its commitment to cultural preservation and corporate social responsibility, Woongjin Preed Life dispatched professional funeral directors to lead the program.

The training covered a wide range of traditional Korean funeral procedures through both theoretical explanation and hands-on practice.

Funeral-related materials and commemorative items were also provided to participants.

The program was shaped in response to strong demand from the ethnic Korean community, where intergenerational transmission of traditional Korean customs has become more difficult over time.

A highlight of the event was a demonstration of Woongjin Preed Life’s patented ceremonial service, the company said.

It added that attendees expressed a strong interest, actively asking questions about traditional procedures and etiquette.

“This event was a meaningful opportunity to witness firsthand the passion of Korean and ethnic Korean communities for preserving traditional culture,” a Woongjin Preed Life representative said.

“We will continue strengthening our engagement with overseas Korean societies and fulfill our responsibility as a leading company in promoting the value of Korean funeral culture globally.”
