Hyun In-sook receives Knowledge Management Award

Gangneung Yeongdong University said on Jan. 5 that its President Hyun In-sook had received the Korea Knowledge Management Award in an event held at the parliament.

A total of 39 people, including politicians, entrepreneurs, and professors, received the prestigious award. Hyun was recognized as the leading figure in the category of university management.

The annual award started in 2013, and university associations, media outlets and the World Invention Intellectual Property Association.

After taking the reins at Gangneung Yeongdong University in late 2022, Hyun came up with a long-term development plan called “Amazing +2027.”

Based on the initiative, Hyun has put forth efforts to make the university in Gangneung, some 220 kilometers west of Seoul, a global leader in smart healthcare, tourism, and leisure.

Under her stewardship, Gangneung Yeongdong University has achieved various exploits, such as being selected as a “higher vocational education hub district” by the Ministry of Education.

“It is a great honor to receive this big award. I will definitely make Gangneung Yeongdong University a top player in vocational education,” she said.

The university’s history stretches back to some 60 years ago, and the number of its alumni reaches about 30,000.

Presently, more than 2,000 students are studying at the university’s campus in such fields as health, nursing, tourism, and restaurant business.
