China will always be a force for peace, stability, and progress in the world, said Amb. Dai Bing, China’s envoy to Korea, during a recent event in Seoul, aimed at marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The reception drew strong attendance from the diplomatic corps in Seoul, particularly ambassadors representing countries with close ties to China.

Among them were Amb. Georgy Zinoviev (Russia), Amb. Saeed Koozechi (Iran), Amb. Andrew Chernetsky (Belarus), Amb. Begench Durdyyev (Turkmenistan), Amb. Aida Ismailova (Kyrgyzstan), Amb. Nurgali Arystanov (Kazakhstan), Amb. Alisher Abdusalomov (Uzbekistan), and Amb. Cecep Herawan (Indonesia).

Touching upon the current international climate of growing uncertainty and overlapping global challenges, Amb. Dai emphasized China’s commitment to collective progress.

“We are ready to work together with the international community, including the Republic of Korea, to remember history, honor the fallen, safeguard the fruits of victory in World War II, and advance the Global Development Initiative, with the ultimate goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind,” he said.

As an example of this vision, he recalled China’s recent commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, reaffirming Beijing’s adherence to peaceful development and its resolve to safeguard global peace and security.

About bilateral relations, Amb. Dai noted that in the 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, China–Korea exchanges and cooperation have flourished across diverse fields, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples while contributing to regional peace and prosperity.

Looking ahead, Amb. Dai pointed out that Korea and China will each host the APEC Leaders’ Meetings in consecutive years.

He expressed Beijing’s support for Korea’s upcoming summit in Gyeongju, where world leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, are expected to meet.

“China supports and sincerely wishes the Korean side a successful hosting of the APEC Meeting,” he said. “Through this summit, cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region can be taken to a new level, offering both countries an excellent opportunity to strengthen high-level exchanges and promote friendly cooperation.”

Ahead of the anniversary celebrations, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and China’s Foreign Minister, met in late August with Park Byung-suk, the Korean president’s special envoy, in Beijing.

According to the Chinese Embassy in Seoul, the talks emphasized that 2024 marks the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Korea, a relationship that Wang described as being at a “critical stage of improvement and development” amid a rapidly changing global environment.
